Each year, around June or July, all the BoardPunks in the city are invited to the Rally. It is a way of deciding the ultimate leader of the YoGang, for what that is worth. The winner is crowned The Board Punk and is given total respect.
Most rallies take place across 5 days in and around the city. They are designed to be a test of both endurance and skill. Underhand tactics are frowned upon, but not illegal. To win because your nearest challenger has no head is no proper win for the BoardPunks. Use of weapons is acceptable, though for the same reason lethal means are rarely used.
Each day comprises of a race through a certain area. All boards compete together, so the challenge is in finding the best route through the area for your particular board. The winner of each day takes 1 point, and all those with points at the end are entered into the final race. This, the Thrash, is the way of deciding the winner.
Performance-enhancing drugs are widely used. At the end of a days racing, all BoardPunks meet in a selected Arco or warehouse to discuss the days race, swap boards and tactics, and leave for another astral plane. The combination of the many drugs sometimes kills off the main challengers, but this is accepted as a risk of the job. These meetings are very exclusive, and although all competing BoadPunks are invited, no other YoGang members are allowed in.
Being The Board Punk has many advantages. Women tend to fall at your feet. All other Punks think first before challenging you to a Thrash. While you are The Board Punk, your Thrash skill temporarily increases by 2, to represent your self-belief and the fear of the opposition. Unfortunately, it is also your responsibility to organise the next years Rally, and this can be a difficult task. Sometimes, certain Punks will refuse to compete, so the winners victory is made to look hollow. Disputes at the end-of-day parties can get really hot and kill of a few competitors. It is The Board Punks job to sort all this out.
The Annual BoardPunk Rally is a good setting for a BoardPunk story, because a lot can happen when 300 stoned lunatics get together and thrash.
