If you were wondering anything about this site, this is the place to come for answers.
Basically it's a roleplaying game (RPG) themed around revolutionary kids in the year 2027. It's the follow-on, companion game to the v. popular CyberPunk 2020, also from R. Talsorian Games. Find out in more detail at the About CyberGeneration page. If that isn't enough, try this review or this review.
"Anhedonia" is defined as, the inability to feel joy. So, what is the connection with CyberGeneration? Well... not very much, to be honest. It would probably work better as the name for a CyberPunk site, but I've grown fond of it since I first heard of it. In a way, it half sums up what the cyber generation is about... or does it?
In general, I have tried to create a professional, clean look for the site, one which is easy on the eye. Past versions of the site have been amateurish, almost garish, so I decided it was time to bring it up to date. In particular, I tried to make navigation as easy as possible. The navigation bars to the left and above and below, are intended to make it clear where you are and where you can go, at all times. This type of thing is used frequently on most good sites, so I'm hoping it will work here too.
If ever there was a silly question, this is it. Please do. It's great seeing new stuff around the site, because I'm finding it increasingly hard to come up with new stuff for a game I don't play so much anymore. As you may have seen already, several people have contributed material to this site, from new rules to new evolved and yogangs. If you'd like to, just contact me to sort it out. You get full credit, of course, and the strangely satisfying feeling of knowing you've written something other people will read.
This site is based entirely around CyberGeneration. As such, it does not have any material for other games, so please stop asking me (especially if you are Russian). The few things I do have for other games can be found on my other RPG-related site, Ronnie's RPG Sites. I haven't played Cyberpunk for ages, so I can't remember how useful the stuff at this site might be to players of CP.
Although they're not compulsory, I felt it necessary to have a few banners up here. One is for the main sponsor of this site's host, cyberpunks.org. The guys at cp.o have been very generous in hosting this site for free for me, so it's the least I can do to add a few banner impressions to their total. Another banner is for the Cyberpunk Top 100 list - every click on that banner helps move this site towards the top of the list, and hopefully more hits. There are also a few RPG banner exchange banners in there. Finally, I've also got a few internal banners, promoting different areas of this site e.g. letting visitors know about the Random Character Generator.
I should point out that I don't make any money at all out of these banners - that's not their point. I've tried to design the site to make the banners as unobtrusive as possible - basically, you can just browse as normal and the banners will reload themselves as you view different pages. I hope they don't bother you too much.
Don't ask me! This site has been designed to display and function almost identically in both the main browsers (v4+ of Navigator or IE). So, I can't really offer advice here. If you want my personal opinion... I'm sad to say that I think IE5 is probably better than Navigator4.7. It hurts to say it, but I can't deny the evidence before my eyes (and fingers). Here's hoping Netscape pull something special out of the bag for v5...
Writing pages for IE is generally easier than for NS, in my opinion. They also display better, and often faster. IE's support for CSS, DHTML and JavaScript is also far in advance of its rivals. For example, you can use <a href="page.htm" title="popup text here">link</a> to have popup text appear over IE links, but you require a huge script to do the same in NS. Which is why I'd currenty prefer it if everyone had IE.
Of course, there is also now Opera to consider. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this site rendered very well in Opera 3.60. In fact, Opera in general seems to be a very nice browser, despite not being free.
These browsers are available for download from the Download Centre.
A while ago I discovered the software of champions, HTML Beauty, which in my opinion is one of the best HTML editors available on the net. It's completely free and is a lot like HomeSite, which is great. I've been using it for a long while now and recently it's come of age, with some excellent features. Give it a look in.
You can find how to download this and other editors at the Download Centre.
I used Adobe Photoshop 5.0. Some of the icons around the site are from the collections at CoolArchive.
PBeM stands for Play By e-Mail. These are games where you send your character's actions to the GM on a turn-by-turn basis. He, and all other players, then respond to each other, and you have a game going. It can be very entertaining as you have time to put together intelligent solutions to problems posed to you, and form deep interpersonal relationships with the other players. Or, you can just say, "I shot him all over with the gun", every turn.
FFRP stands for Free Form Role Playing. Typically these games are played over IRC (Internet Relay Chat) or web-based chat services. Games are played almost as normal, except you type your actions in in real-time. Therefore, they will usually be a little more frenetic than PBeM games.
Folllow the steps outlined in the Webring page. To join, your site must have something to do with the CyberGeneration RPG (it's pretty pointless having a CG webring if it's full of Def Leppard sites).
Yes, I suppose so, but it gives me something to do, and the last design was rubbish so something had to be done about it. There are quite a few people visiting this site now, so CyberGeneration can't be that unpopular, and CyberPunk players may find some stuff here useful.
I am Ronnie, or if you actually know me, Richard Carr. I'm from England, hence the unfortunately patriotic e-mail address ronnie@england.com. My homepage is here. If you particularly want to know something else about me for some reason e.g. you are mildly psycopathic, just mail me and I'll be happy to oblige you.
I started playing CyberGen in about 1995 with some friends from school. Unfortunately I'm a really crap GM so we never got into it that much, however, this site developed out of a website used as a prop in one of my old adventures. Since then (around early 1998) I've just kept it going and expanded it, mainly for something to do. Although I don't play CyberGen live anymore, I've run or taken part in a few PBeM games and I still think it's a pretty good game.
Yes. They refuse to list this site, despite me asking on and off for over a year. If anyone can tell me why, I'd appreciate it.
Hooray! Contact me and I'll be happy to answer your purile ramblings, no questions asked.
