Although the Solo's are pretty much dead (don't say that in front of an EdgeRunner), their morals live on in Team One. These are a band of former Solo's, who've teamed up to earn a living. They're professional hitmen, the best you'll find on this coast, and they're proud of it.
By 2025, the cyberpunk movement was pretty much over. Demand for hitmen was at an all-time low. People who, five years earlier, had been burnt-out coke addicts, now had safe corporate jobs. People weren't so bitter, grudges were forgotten, less mud stuck. And so, the Solo's now in Team One found themselves out of work, with no money and most of all, no friends.
What can a Solo turn to? Carpentry? Office work? Odd-jobbing? The only way of life they've ever known was the only one they could continue in, realistically. A group of fifteen or so ex-Solo's got together, tried to put past grievances to one side, and formed Team One. Although demand was low, they figured someone, somewhere must still need someone else bumping off.
The risk payed off. There proved to be plenty of people with grudges, who'd pay through the nose to get a dirty job done. The greatest thing was, you were the only ones in town anyone could turn to. The rest had either quit the game, or died. The new cybergeneration wasn't up to the job. That left them, a gang of elite killers, with a city full of killings to carry out.
No problem.
Currently, there are around ten fully paid-up members. No-one can confirm that, of course. To do so, you'd have to be a member, and for a member of the cybergeneration, that's impossible. Only those with a history, those who were around in 2020, can get in. You have to know a member, and have their trust, and then maybe you'll be lucky enough to be accepted. Of the original fifteen, only ten are left. No-one said it was a cosy job.
Word on the street has it that Morgan Blackhand was briefly involved with Team One - but that's just a rumour. It doesn't really matter either way, because he went soft years ago and they'd never take him in anyway. All members are experts in their fields, for example demolitions, sniping, explosives, shadowing, and so on. In game terms, they are EdgeRunners with at least 8 in all Stats, and 10 in at least 3 of those.
Word also has it that Joe Falconi is the boss-man nowadays, although again, that's just a rumour. The notorious LA hitman has been seen around the city several times of late... and if he's being allowed to walk around, he must be in with the Team. Few could imagine Joe taking anything less than the top rank if he was in Team One. He has a tough reputation, tougher so than other members.
Other, known, members include Sammy Long, a martial arts expert from New York; QT, an undercover hitman from LA, who specialises in shadowing his victims until precisely the right moment presents itself; Phil Masters, an ex-navy commando who goes for the more direct approach (ie. extreme violence); and Jimmy Jameson, a self-styled "guv'nor" who knows half the gangsters, pimps, and mafiose in town.
What makes Team One so dangerous, is their indiscrimenate choice of targets. If the money is right, they will take out anyone, and that includes eight year-old punks who've pushed the local greengrocer too far. With the Team in town, everyone has to watch their backs. Remember, you're dealing with 2020 vets - they've seen and done more than you ever will.
It is quite well-known around town, that if you want to get in touch with the Team, you'll find at least one of them at Conrad's, no matter what the hour. Conrad's is an old bar downtown - find out more about it here.
